Valentine’s Day Done Right With Our Help

Tags :

indexWe’re 3 weeks away from this beautiful holiday and we’d like to help you make it memorable and safe. Today we’re going to take some time to give you some ideas as to how to incorporate your pool (if you didn’t close it for the season) or your Jacuzzi/ hot tub . As always, we love helping you keep your pools and hot tubs clean and running smooth, because we love pools as much as you do!

Here’s our ideas on how to make this February 14th one for the record books!

  • Hot Tub Romance: Valentine’s Day being a Sunday means you and your partner can probably spend the whole day together, so why not plan in some Tubbin’ time? Turn on the jets, bring out the rose petals, and serve the bubbly! Before this surprise, have us stop by to inspect the unit and get it sparkling clean for you! You don’t need algae growth ruining the mood and making you and your hot tub partner slip around. Note: Be careful using rose petals to set the mood– check with us about how chlorine will affect the petals and how the petals will affect the water. You may want to opt for a synthetic– and reusable– option.
  • Couples Night: Bring by another couple (or more) for some couples night fun! Board games, movies, and some time in the hot tub! Unwind before the work week gets started again! Spread the love, guys.
  • Pools: If your pool is open (as well as clean, balanced, and working properly with our help) then you may find yourself able to surprise your partner with a pool party with your closest friends or other couples. You can also purchase any number of interesting multi-person floats for your pool. This will allow you to lay with your love to look at the clouds or the stars while you float peacefully across the water without a care in the world.
  • Indoor pools: Embrace your inner child and splash around instead of the droll exercising you probably do with your indoor units. Bring out the floats, or take a page from the hot tub romance and bring out rose petals and a floating bar or other interesting pool accessory. Relax the stress from the previous week away with warm water and the best company.

No matter how you spend your February 14th this year, we hope it’s a great one! Don’t forget that Pool Daddy AZ can help you with almost every pool and hot tub need you have! We can help you keep your units running year round as well as close them for Winter and open them for Spring or Summer.

Hot Tubs For Summer

Hot Tubs For SummerHot Tubs For Summer

Summer is here, officially, and that means some people turn away from their hot tubs, leaving them empty or at least covered and powered off. Don’t do that to your lovely hot tub! You can still us it this summer.

The great thing about Arizona summer is it still gets cool at night! Deserts are perfect for pools and hot tubs or Jacuzzis together! You hop in the pool during the day to cool off or get some sweat-free exercise and after dinner the hot tub feels nice once the sun goes down. Temperatures drop as the sun approaches the horizon, so don’t forget how great those jets and hot water will feel.

Some people get hot tubs, spas, or Jacuzzis for join pain, back pain, arthritis, and other pain related issues. Bypass hot baths with epsom salts for those achy nights and hop in the hot tub for some relaxation and pain relief. Enjoy the sunset or watch the stars as you let the jets soothe your body from the neck down. Enjoy an after dinner beverage or spend some time with friends or loved ones outside.

Hot Tubs For SummerWhile above ground units do not increase your home value, they can increase your quality of life. Some pool owners opt for a connected spa for their in ground pool unit, increasing home value much like the pool itself does. Keep both above and inground options clean and running smoothly with weekly or monthly pool services from Pool daddy so you can continue enjoying your investment for years to come with less repairs and replacement parts. A hot tub works best when it’s clean and all of the parts are in good repair. Don’t forget about these small units just because they look and feel like they’re working properly. Much like a pool, underlying small issues can sneak up on you or go unnoticed and can lead to major electrical, plumbing, or safety issues.

Invite your father over to lounge in a Jacuzzi for the evening after you treat him to dinner. Send the kids to the pool for some night swimming and enjoy an evening in the hot tub with your husband or send them away to the movies or out with friends and invite over some of the other dads and have an adults only Father’s Day relaxation night.

Consider paying for your father’s pool maintenance for a week or two, or a special cleaning to give him some time off. Whatever you’ve done this Father’s Day, don’t forget about him and consider that sometimes the best gift is just taking something off of his Honey-Do list.

Have a safe summer, follow all safety rules and guidelines of your equipment and chemicals, and keep your pool maintenance technicians in mind when scheduling services—some services should not be done in the high heat.

Hot Tub Proper Ways of Cleaning

Tags :

Hot TubClean Hot Tub is a Happy Hot Tub

Hot tub are nice year round, especially on cool desert nights! Just like a pool, hot tub need to be properly cleaned and maintained for maximum efficiency and comfort. Luckily, cleaning a spa or tub doesn’t require using as much water as a pool. Filling a spa after a cleaning might take an hour or so, whereas a pool filling up could take an entire day! So regularly cleaning your hot tubs is a great idea because less water is in the unit and less is needed to fill it. A little grime in a pool is not as noticeable as the same amount of grime in a hot tub. Today we’ll talk about some ways you can clean that tub to keep it fresh and beautiful.

Minimal cleaning: Baking soda can be used on the surface area when the issue is minor. This shouldn’t be used for the entire tub, and not for mold or mildew.

Hot TubWhole hot tubs: Using a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft scrubbing tool (nylon, for example) to remove grime is very effective and will not damage the unit. Various cleaners can be used for this.

Vinyl Cover: Rinse the cover with a hose before applying a soap solution (small amount of dish washing detergent to water), baking soda, or store bought cleaner in circular motions with a sponge. Avoid using soap for the bottom of the cover. Thoroughly rinse all of the dirt and soap off of the cover before replacing. You can also buy products to protect and seal the covers to prevent some build up.

Hot TubFilters: Roughly once a month it is useful to remove and clean your spa filter cartridges. You can spray them with a hose to remove most debris between the filter pleats. There are many filter cleaner products on the market you can try as well to keep them working at their best capacity. Some filters need to be changed every 3 years, as cleaning them will only do so much. Ask your filter provider or pool technician for advice on when to change your filters (3 years is common).

Replacing the water: Soap from cleaning, your body, and other contaminants can make your hot tub water look dingy and feel off. Replacing it is a good way to keep your tub clean and filters working optimally, since they can’t filter out everything. Follow the instructions given to you by the tub provider and consider water regulations in your area.

pH levels: Any time your spa is unattended for some time, check the pH levels before entering the tub. Levels too high or low can cause damage to the tub or users.

For more tips, read this article for ideas on which products to use to prolong the life of your tub, filter, and more. As always, you can have Pool Daddy check your pool or spa weekly (or as per your request) for a reasonable cost to keep your investments properly working and your life stress free.

Hot Tubs Common Repair

Hot Tubs Common Repair

Hot tubs are wonderful ways to relax after a long day or spend a weekend evening with your significant other. Along with our weekly pool cleaning services, we also offer repairs, maintenance, and cleaning of hot tubs. Today we’ll discuss a few of the problems hot tubs can demonstrate and the parts involved.

  • Nothing will turn on! This could be a fuse, switch, or something in the wiring. Most of these issues require high levels of electrical training to avoid injury. Never attempt to do this on your own.
  • The temperature is all wrong! This can be caused by problems with a switch or relay, a filter cartridge, thermostat, or the heating element. Whether your hot tub won’t heat up or it gets dangerously hot we have the tools to fix these problems.
  • The Pumps aren’t working correctly! This can relate to any number of switches, relays, and motors but it can also be the time clock or thermostat. Like with cars, this can be caused by a very small problem with cheap parts or it can mean a lot more labor intensive work. Don’t let a little lost pressure or increased pressure lead to major safety issues. Contact us the moment you feel something is amiss.
  • Lights issues: this can be a switch, transformer, fuse, or just the lamp. These shouldn’t affect the effectiveness of the hot tubs but should be checked on in case there’s a larger issue.
  • Burnt wires or melted insulation: This is likely issues with the terminal connections. Do not let these issues go unchecked.
  • Hot TubsLeaks, cracks, and pump issues: These are fairly common issues and can lead to a waste of water and an ineffective hot tub. Leaks may be something simple like seals, valves, or pipes but it can also be bigger issues like the heater manifold or something in the jets. A small leak can lead to bigger leaks, cracks, and leakage into the electrical components.

One major difference between hot tubs and pools is the electricity. Hot tubs have large numbers of chords, fuses, and electrical components in a small space and any problem should be addressed as soon as possible. If you feel there may be a problem regarding the electrical system of your hot tubs, drain the water if possible and remove it from the power source. This will reduce the risk of short circuiting or damage to people and property. Call Pool Daddy immediately to schedule a visit. If you are taking advantage of our weekly pool services you can ask about hot tub weekly or monthly service as well. We will check for cracks and possible future issues. We can’t predict everything but we may catch something before you do.
