Super Bowl Pool Party Sunday! Let’s Get Wet!

If you use your pool year round and haven’t winterized it, then today might be the perfect time to throw a pool party! It’s a little last minute, but there’s still time! Or, better yet! Throw a Super Bowl Pool Party tomorrow (or next weekend for those who have regular jobs). Everyone will be recovering from a day of drinking and either celebration or anger—depending on who wins, of course. Record it and rewatch it with friends tomorrow, or rewatch the commercials with some close friends and turn it into a drinking game or throw a party in the name of the winning team tomorrow and invite all of your friends.

It may be just a tad chilly for swimming (unless you have an indoor pool, you lucky dog) for some, but for others it’s still perfect. Take a swim before the big game to clear your mind and pump up your body!

Those with a Jacuzzi or hot tub are in an even greater advantage! If you have an outdoor television you’re all set to have the best Super Bowl evening ever! Crack open a beer, pull some stools up filled with snacks, and relax. If there is no television close enough to the hot tub (And you can’t find a way to move it closer) then chill in the hot tub during half-time if Katy Perry isn’t your thing. Prep for the game with a relaxing soak, or chill with your buddies after the game talking about the outcome of the game, the commercials, or just talk about sports in general.

For all of you non-football fans (wives, girlfriends, mothers, “I just watch for the commercials” people etc) why not relax in the pool or hot tub and have some fun getting away from the screaming and the jumping. Go back for the half time show in case there’s another Janet Jackson scenario or to enjoy Katy Perry, or don’t. If you love the commercials don’t worry too much—they’ll all be online tomorrow anyway and they’ll replay the best ones on normal television for at least a month.

No matter what football team you’re rooting for and why, if you have a pool, Jacuzzi, or hot tub, you’re sure to have a wonderful Super Bowl Pool Party! It might sound like a silly idea, but it got you thinking about reasons to throw pool or spa parties, didn’t it? You can also take bets in a pool to see who wins and the losers have to jump in the cold swimming pool .

Pool Daddy is here for all your pool cleaning needs and keeping your pools and hot tubs in fantastic working order. Keep us in mind for weekly pool cleaning so you can keep using your pool year round, or contact us for finally winterizing your pool you keep saying you’ll use this winter. Pool Winterization!

Steps of Pool Winterization!

Winter is officially here! It’s time to winterize the pool. You may be thinking “but it’s so warm out, I can use my pool year round!” but unless you plan on using the pool and cleaning it regularly, you may want to consider winterization to save time, effort, and money during the season you probably won’t want to swim.

Let’s talk about the steps of winterization.

Pool Winterization

  1. Remove debris. Using a pool vacuum or a net, remove leaves, dirt, bugs, and other debris from the pool water. Clean the skimmer and pump basket. Clean tile with tile cleaner, to prevent buildup over winter.
  2. pH levels: Adjust the water to the recommended pH levels to keep corrosion and build up from damaging your pool. Things like alkalinity, calcium, and chlorination should also be checked and adjusted. Some chemical kits are designed for winterization and should be considered. They often contain algaecide and extra chlorine.
  3. Be careful of chemical levels: More chlorine isn’t always a good idea. To prevent damage to equipment, avoid using tablets or floaters. If you’ve used a tablet or other chemicals recently, you may want to wait for those chemicals to wear off before adding a winterization kit.
  4. Drain water to below the skimmer: Do not fully empty the pool, it can cause freeze damage if temperatures get low enough.
  5. Disconnect pumps and heaters: Once the water is drained, unplug pumps and heaters, and if possible, turn them upside down to ensure excess water is removed. You can use a compressor or shop vac to assure all water is removed from a heater. Drain plugs should be removed and stored. Also remove jet fittings, skimmer baskets, and pump baskets.
  6. Remove water from all pipes: using a compressor or a wet-dry shop vac, force all air out of plumbing and skimmers, drain lines, gate valves, etc.
  7. Clean filter: Remove filter hoses, spray the filter elements and diatomaceous earth grids with Filter Cleaner, and rinse. Sand filters will need back-washing. Drain water from the filter as well.
  8. Flotation device: This is used to balance the rainwater and ice that will form on the winter cover and it eases the pressure on the pool walls.
  9. Cover: These covers are stronger and more reliable than summer covers, since they’re meant to withstand rain and ice. Ensure the cover has no rips, tears, or holes. They can be patched to an extent, but replacement may be needed. There are multiple cover options, so do your research or ask your local pool companies.
  10. Store diving boards, ropes, floats, and supplies: Keep things like ladders, diving boards, pump baskets, and anything that was removed during winterization and keep them in a garage or other dry place to prevent damage.

Contact Pool Daddy about Pool Winterization services. You can do this process yourself, but it never hurts to have the professionals do it.

Pool Cleaners Tricky Services That You Should Be Aware

Tags :

Pool CleanersBeware of Tricky Pool Cleaners

Services from Pool Daddy will always be done correctly the first time and we pride ourselves with honesty and conduct business with integrity. There are things some pool companies do that we would like to warn you about. Here are 5 things some pool companies may do to you.

  1. Skip your home. Some pool cleaners will skip homes when they are behind schedule. Reputable companies will not skip appointments if they can avoid it. The right company will either reschedule or inform you of the problem and work something out. Some companies, however, will just skip and hope you don’t call the company and ask about it. Check with your pool cleaning service provider if you have been missed or if there was some other issue.
  2. High turnover rate of employees. Smaller companies tend to keep a close knit group of employees far better than larger companies. Larger companies can afford to train multiple people but often don’t train them past the minimum requirements. You gain a much more intimate relationship with smaller local companies since they tend to take pride and time in training technicians who are trained in the chemistry, engineering, plumbing, and other required fields for proper pool maintenance. Be leery of companies who seem to have new groups of technicians at every visit and ask about the training provided to employees.
  3. Changing fees or charging more for chemicals. While the expected or agreed upon cost may change depending on the season, services provided, and gas prices, the price shouldn’t randomly increase beyond a discussed flat rate. General chemicals like chlorine shouldn’t change the cost significantly, but special ordered chemicals or products may. Regardless of amount used, a fixed amount should be applied for the use of chemicals.
  4. Used parts in maintenance. While there may be nothing wrong with a used part (installed for one season, refurbished, etc) some companies may be using parts which are likely to break or malfunction due to age or amount of previous use. Insist upon knowing the age and prior usage of any parts involved in repairs. If they refuse to tell you, there’s a good chance it’s a cheap used part.Pool Cleaners
  5. Be aware of regulations. Some states only require tax based information and minimal licensing to open up a pool cleaning and maintenance company and some companies may sub out repairs to other companies. Make sure you are aware of the licensing and any third party companies involved in your pool maintenance, cleaning, and repair. Do your research and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

At Pool Daddy you will receive highly trained technicians who care about providing work done correctly the first time. Check out sites like Angie’s List to read about companies and gather some tips for choosing the right pool cleaners or other service provider.

What To Do When You’re NOT Cleaning Your Pool?

At Pool Daddy we offer weekly pool services (as well as more specialized services like repairs, inspections, and more) so you don’t have to worry about it. Think of all the time you’ll save by having professionals do that work for you. With PH balancing and debris cleaning, you don’t have to worry about the health of you and your loved ones. You also won’t have to stress about the water levels or algae build up. Your pool will look clean and the water will be so clean it’ll look brand new at all times. So put away the gauges and nets and call Pool Daddy for all your weekly pool cleaning needs.
If you’re still not convinced, here’s some things you can do with the time you’ll save by hiring someone to clean your pool.

Cleaning your Pool

  1. Enjoy your swim. Think of all the time you’d spend cleaning your pool and maintaining the pool when you’re not a professional. There won’t be any second guessing as to whether it’s clean or has the right PH, so all you’ll have to worry about is when you need to reapply sun screen.
  2. Sunbathe. Even when our professional technicians are at performing the pool services, you can relax out in the sun to keep an eye on us and see how it’s done.
  3. Relax indoors. While it may be nice to sit outside when we’re visiting, there is no need. Our trustworthy technicians will do the work just as well and fast whether you’re out there or not. Just relax and let us do the hard work for you.
  4. Read a book. In the time you save throughout the year not cleaning your pool, think of all the books or articles you could read. Or think of all the social media time you could have. Or, all the TV shows and movies you could watch!
  5. Get other things done. The time you save by hiring us means you’ll have time to tend to other needs like children, pets, chores, and cooking.
  6. Hire gardeners. At Pool Daddy, we work closely with gardeners and landscapers to get you the best price and service in and around your pool. Schedule us both on the same day and save time while beautifying your entire property.
  7. Save time and money for repairs. While our services can’t predict problems, they can prevent and spot potential issues. At our weekly visits, you can inquire about replacements or repairs which may need to be done soon or you can ask us to schedule an inspection to ensure everything is in working order. Often, we can do any preventative maintenance or inspections

So contact us today about scheduling weekly or bi-weekly services to keep your pool clean, fresh, beautiful, and healthy while saving you more time than you’ll know what to do with.

Pool Daddy, No One Does It Better!

Pool DaddyPool Daddy Services

Welcome to Pool Daddy, your solution to all of your pool maintenance needs in the Phoenix Metro area.  Some companies only offer cleaning, some only do repairs, and some will overcharge you. At Pool Daddy, we do nearly anything related to pools, and we won’t charge your first born child. Today we’ll talk about some of our pool services, next week we’ll discuss the rest.

If you have a pool and you don’t have the time, energy, or expertise to keep it up, call us. We offer weekly services for general maintenance. Trained technicians will inspect the clarity, color, and contaminant levels of the water after a thorough removal of debris. Next, the pH is tests alongside the chlorine and alkalinity levels. If any of these settings are not satisfactory, they will be adjusted during our visit. The water level will be checked to ensure the proper function of the pump and filters will be checked and maintained. Tile and the sides of the pool will be scrubbed and an algaecide may be applied if the technician feels it’s necessary. Weekly cleaning will keep your pool clean and running well all year long. It can also heavily reduce the chance of problems which will need repair and if the repair is needed, our technicians will fix it on the spot (additional fees will apply) or they can schedule the repair.

Whether you have a personal pool at your home or you run a hotel, motel, apartment complex, or public swimming pool, we’re here to clean and inspect your pool. While cleaning can prevent many issues with equipment and sanitation, inspections go deeper. Inspections fully investigate the quality and functionality of pumps, heaters, filters, and check the pool tile and near-by areas for cracks or other potentially hazardous problems. This will keep you, your family, and/or your tenants healthy and cool in the hot summer sun. It’ll also keep your Jacuzzi’s, spas, and pools at the perfect temperature year-round.

General repairs can be time consuming and costly when done through the wrong people. Sure, there may be some parts you can replace yourself, or you may feel confident in your ability to repair the pool pump. Someone who isn’t fully trained may end up causing more damage than was initially there.  Our technicians are fully trained and will come to your location to give a fair estimate “(with a $45 service call fee, which will be waived with repair).

There’s almost nothing grosser than a green pool. Algae and other bacteria or grown can cause many health problems to those using the pool and those around you. While chlorine is designed to decrease the green mess, it will not fully prevent it. Regular cleaning will keep a pool fresh, but should your pool go green, we’ll find out why and restore your pool back to the oasis-like beauty. This process may take several hours or a few days, but in the end it’s worth it. Never enter a pool which looks green, or you may end up feeling green yourself. Do yourself and those around you a favor and call us.

These are some of the basic, common services Pool Daddy offers. Next week we’ll discuss more specific services like tile cleaning, Jacuzzi repair, and pressure washing. Send us a message from our website and let’s begin getting your pool and recreation back on track. Summer may be nearing the end, but that doesn’t mean your fun in the sun has to cease!

Yepp! Give us a call when you are looking for professionalism in all your pool needs.
